BBP REAL LIFE BUDGET | Single Mom + Savings Goals
It’s time for another Real Life Budget. I asked my readers to submit their REAL information. Real spending, real debt, and real savings goals.
I am taking those real-life numbers and showing you how I would organize and budget that information using my Budget By Paycheck® Method.
If you would like to submit your budget information to possibly be picked for a Real Life Budget that we will show on UA-cam, please reach out to budgets@thebudgetmom.com.
Today, we are looking at TBM Family member Meghan's information. Meghan is a single mom who lives in Maryland. She works two jobs and has had an issue using payday loans in the past. She struggles with spending and she wants to start saving for multiple savings goals.

This is really good information for someone moving out on their own for the first time. I remember the first time I moved out of my parents house about 50 years ago. I said oh no, I have to buy toilet paper too!? It was a big surprise of all the things I had to purchase for which I was totally unprepared. Thank God for a very understanding mom and dad.

Something that I don't see mentioned often and wish I did is getting rid of the Kindle subscription and joining your local public library. Most have the Libby app for ebooks, and even if you think your town is too small to have anything good most libraries are part of some kind of network that allows for interlibrary loans. Plus many libraries offer so many other programs and funding is so often dependent on people actually using services. Guys please save money and join (and use!) the library!

I just started using your workbook in March. Now I'm going through and watching your past videos. THIS ONE has been very helpful. I kinda did this on my own, but this has given me ideas to watch and evaluate further. My husband died late last year. He was self employed. I lost his income completely. I'm on SSDI. I'm not able to increase my income. I'm going to need to sell my house (I own it outright) so I plan on selling items that I might be able to get decent money for. I'm figuring that anything that won't sell for at least $50 is going to be donated. I only have one debt: a Home Equity loan. The principal left is approximately $18K. (5% APR) I pay more than the minimum each month, and throw anything extra that I can on it. I would love to have one of your "makeover" plans to see what I might have missed. Anyhow, thank you so much for this channel. You're helping me more than you know. I'm determined to do well and be a good steward of what I have. I'm sad that my husband died, but I want to live! ❤

No refund policy for her New 100 day envelope system in a box. Too small of envelopes to fit larger amounts and they are not laminated so the durability is questionable. I will always love and recommend her newsletters, system and the "Budget by Paycheck". I have bought one for a Christmas gift and my daughter's birthday gift.

I appreciate this type of video. In this budget I would definitely look closer at the eating out and grocery bill portions. It seems excessively high for 2 people. I bet with a little meal planning and grocery list that bill could be lower. Make eating out more of a special treat versus a "I am tired, drive through it is." It is amazing how one less meal out/or drink can add up to great savings. I wish you great luck! It can be done.

Is there a video where you show how you saved for the house in over a year? I'm still not understanding how this is achieved. In your talking head on buying the house with cash, you don't answer the question, so I'm wondering if there's a video that shows your budget breakdown where you saved that much money after you announced on your blog you were buying a house with cash? At 60 years old and newly retired, my external retirement funds total around One million two hundred and fifty thousand dollars.. With no debt and minimal retirement fund allocation relative to my portfolio's value over the last three years, I recognize the importance of a financial advisor. Neglecting them isn't an option; however, thorough research is vital to find a trustworthy fiduciary advisor

Having worked for Non-profit in my younger years as a single mom, though I loved it, I had to move to the private sector to be paid for what I was doing. Career change would be first on my list. The cell phone amount stressed me out, lol. I just paid $180 for a year of mint mobile BUT, after paying for 15g of use I found I use around 1g so I was able to take the lowest subscription. I would definitely shop around on that cell phone. Gym membership also stood out to me since you work for a gym. You look in good shape being mostly debt free so some tweaking should bring you great success. Good Luck Meghan!!!
